The City of Los Angeles and the state of California are launching a serious crackdown on all outstanding DUI Warrants, in an effort to make people with prior DUI convictions pay for their alleged crimes. The Statewide Traffic Records System found that while there were over 200,000 DUI arrests in 2008, there were a number of outstanding Los Angeles DUI warrants because many of those arrested failed to show up in court.
In an aggressive effort to find and punish violators, the California Highway Patrol is stepping up their efforts to prosecute anyone arrested for a DUI charge to failed to show up in court.

The funding for the "DUI Warrant Service Project" is provided by a $311,568 grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
